*whimpers in pain*

Booth and police inspector have met at a riverside cafe. And she's handed him a box. Inside the box there's a gun...

*cries*

Yes, we do have (some) armed police in Britain. The firearms are very carefully locked away when not in use and are only distributed at the police station. Guns are carried as a matter of routine (for a full shift) only by police on armed guard duty. For example, at Heathrow, following recent events. Otherwise, they're distributed just before an operation and to police who have the requisite firearms qualification. Most don't.

There is no fucking way a Met DI (detective inspector) would even have the authority to authorise the use of firearms (you have to be at least a superintendant) let alone hand one over, in public, to a foreign national.

I am rapidly approaching the point when I don't think I will be able to continue and will have to admit defeat.
