Ten disappointments

Not in order of importance.
1. Hershey's chocolate. I grew up reading books which eulogised the stuff and being a confirmed chocoholic I couldn't wait to try it. But- ugh- dog chocolate. Yuck! Yes, Hershey's chocolate tastes just like dog chocolate. How do I know? Hey I was desperate for choclate, okay and I figured that the dog would never know...
2. The Phantom Menace. I just expected something more.
3. My A Level results. The best that can be said about them is that they were good enough to get me into the university and degree course of my choice.
4. First view of Beijing. Not a pretty city, although with some fantastic sights.
5. First time I smoked a joint. Didn't do much for me. Still doesn't.
6. Flying out to Gibraltar bright eyed and bushy tailed with enthusiasm, all ready to start a new job. Only to find that no one had come to meet me at the airport as promised.
7. Not getting to go to Chicago in 1981. Still haven't been.
8. Arriving too late to take up that booking in a gorgeous French chateau. Our stay there was going to be the highlight of that romantic get-away a few years ago. Sigh. Even if I go back it will never be with him.
9. That sense of anti-climax when I was finally admitted as a solicitor. Was that all? And the biscuits were crap.
10. And finally, first time I had sex. Thankfully, it got better.
