Judge John Deed is on and it's all wrong, wrong, wrong. The court procedure is totally fucked up and no judge would ever do what the judge just did and the Attorney-General wouldn't act like that either ('cos he could be impeached) and, and, and-

Argh!

Haven't these people even heard of research? I know all about dramatic licence, but if The Bill can get police procedure right (and they do) why are the producers of Judge John Deed so unconcerned with reality?

Cos it's not a soap like the Bill, and only soaps matter nowadays... :S

Sigh. yeah. But there was a time when you could guarantee that drama on the Beeb would be well researched. Now, some of it is, but not enough. Penalty for the fracturing of the viewing audience, I suspect.

Heh. My mum is a big Martin Shaw fan. My did is an Employment Tribunal chairman.

With the wind in the right direction, I can hear my dad's screams of viewing pain reaching all the way from Yorkshire down here to Leicester.

Giggling madly here and sending sympathy vibes your father's way. I like Martin Shaw as well, which is why I tried to watch the damn programme. But I Just Can't. It hurts too much.

You know, I was just looking for a place in which to vent my anger - I know close to nothing about the British judicial system, but even I could see that acuiring a source of information and divulging/using that info in that way was SO wrong!

I watch Deed only for Martin (he is luscious, isn't he? ;) (I mean, if Lewis was on the telly, I'd watch Lewis religiously, but he isn't, so I make do with Mr. Shaw :)

But, yes, that the Beeb could go this wrong is a shock for me too - it's all G.F. Newman's fault, you know that, right? His scriptwriting politics are still in the 70s and I almost expect a bad guy to arrive with a wart on his nose and a sinister laugh.

oh, well. Glad I could vent with a like minded soul :)

Belated response.

Wistful sigh. Oh, he is, he is. However, not even for Martin can I suffer any more Judge John Deed.

I'd forgotten that it's written by G.F. Newman. That explains a lot. If his research was always this lousy no wonder the various bodies he wrote about were up in arms over his portrayals of them.

Glad I could vent with a like minded soul

*g* You're very welcome. I share your pain ;)
