Me too

with the Prisoner of Azkaban post. I saw it in the company of [livejournal.com profile] temaris, who wrote an excellent spoiler-packed post here.

For the most part I agree with Tem's review,

I was rather more impressed with Emma's acting than Temaris, for example. I thought she carried off Hermione very well. But I heartily second the comments concerning Dan and Rupert.

As for Draco... He looked scrumptuous, rather more the Draco of my imagination than previously but the characterisation didn't quite accord with how I see him. He was too much of a sissy for my taste. Yes, he is established as being a bit cowardly but this is in respect of real threats not an irate Hermione who could give him a black eye but hardly threaten his life. I did like the idea of Hermione taking her revenge like that but where was Draco's pride? She's a *Mudblood* for God's sake and one just *does not* blubber in front of one's inferiors.

Remus was so much better than I expecting, based on photos alone. Thewlis isn't the Remus of my imagination, but then none of the film characters are. But he conveyed the pain Remus suffers as a result of his 'condition' expertly. It was, of course, understated but the more poignant for that. I adored his relationship with Harry.

Oldman kicked arse as Sirius. Again, the appearance isn't spot on compared to my imagination but the characterisation pleased me exceedingly. As did the Remus/Sirius scenes. Loved those.

I also got a kick out of seeing so many well-known (in Britain) British comedians and actors undertaking some of the smaller roles. It was fun seeing all those familiar faces, which is something of a role-call on the character-actor front.

To sum up, as others have said this is by far the best of the three films to date and knocks the previous two out of the water. Well done Cuaron.
