At last!

Season 5 of The West Wing finally comes to British TV and we're about to find out What Happens Next after the Season 4 cliffhanger (I think Australia may be even further behind than we are in Britain, so I won't say what happened at the end of Season 4).

So, I settle down in much anticipation, (almost) on the edge of my seat. Needless to say I'm somewhat spoiled for Season 5, but not unduly so. The tension is rising. This is pretty much the only TV programme I'm looking forward to watching all week, when... my mother rings.

Sigh.

She's off on holiday tomorrow to Cyprus (rather her than me in July - it'll be rather hot there) for a week, so I couldn't tell her that I'd ring her back tomorrow and she's going to bed early tonight to get up at the crack of dawn tomorrow to travel to the airport so I couldn't even say that I'd phone her back after WW had finished. So, I missed the whole of the first half.

But have it on tape. Won't be able to see it until the weekend, as I'm away on business for a few days. Oh well, it'll give me something to look forward to.

I'm not sure how much I ought to thank West Wing for my stunning success in an online quiz I took recently that asked the question whether I would pass the American citizenship test. The answer was, easily, yes. I only got one question wrong, which was the number of amendments to the Constitution. But the rest of the questions struck me as being within the remit of a reasonable amount of general knowledge. I wonder if the British citizenship test that is being touted at present will be as easy. Presumably, yes. I think the idea is just to ensure that prospective citizens have at least some idea about the country they wish to become a citizen of, rather than setting out to fail them.

I will love you forever if I can borrow that tape when you're finished. I didn't realise it was on until about 15 minutes ago. Cue much grr'ing and checking of E4 website, only to find it isn't repeated. Probably due to the stupid amounts of bloody Big Brother.

I'm fighting hell and high water for Sunday, but I might be a no show until pretty late *sigh* At least this time I don't have to travel 1 1/2 hours to get home LOL

So West Wing, yay! You will share, please? I have not seen season 4 yet, although I know what happened during the last ep and I'm dying to know what happens now!

Looks like I may have to lend it to The Neighbour (stageira) first, though, 'cos she only lives round the corner and can commit GBH on me if I send it to t'frozen north before she's seen it. *g*

But, you're very welcome to borrow it, and hopefully soon. I recorded it in LP format (meant to change it to SP but forgot) and as E4 is crap quality anyway I don't know how clear a copy it will be.

Sorry to hear about Sunday but hopefully you'll manage to get away at a reasonable hour. If prudentia comes she won't be able to make it until later, so you won't be alone.

I will of course share the tape, but have promised that I'll let moonlettuce have it as well, so you mustn't keep it for too long as she wants to get her mitts on it!

Keep your fingers crossed for Sunday, I'm just hoping that I will be there before 5, but I don't know yet. Staff should be whipped for making me work on that day.

What on earth does GBH mean?

Grievous bodily harm. It's pretty well known by its acronym amongst Brits and it's shocking how many times you hear someone to threaten to commit GBH. Against their errant boyfriend for example... *g*

I'm going to suggest that people get to mine from 3.00pm onwards so if you don't make it until 5pm you won't miss much.
