Somebody was talking about this at a party at the weekend. We said we hadn't seen it and weren't keen. They said not to bother! NW UK - bears out the statistics!

Yes. I was very glad to read the statistics, actually. Like most of the UK I haven't actually seen it, but having read about Gibson's recent antics I'm pleased that none of my money went to line his pockets for that particular piece of film-making. Gibson benefitted hugely financially from the film's US success, and it was apparently popular in other parts of the world, as well. Not in old worship whatever God you like as long as you don't preach about it Britain, though. *g*

Will you marry me, so I can move across the pond and live amidst the (mostly) sane?

I'm not sure about the (mostly) sane, but mostly not-bothered-about-religion, yes, definitely.

And, hmm, you know I might be able to offer you someone more to your taste than, well, me. *g* How about one of [livejournal.com profile] temaris' brothers? She's offered 'em out before (not to a bloke, but that's a mere detail, surely?) to desperate Americans and civil partnerships are legal here now...

What?

*g* Well, I think it's only fair that you get dibs on which one you choose. But there are two of them...

It's very sad. I used to like him. Until I realised what an arsehole he is. That was several years ago now.

I would say despise him, in my case.

It even made the main BBC evening news in the UK. Basically, Gibson was arrested for drunk-driving and made a lot of deeply inflammatory remarks and threats, including several anti-semitic comments. He's a Hollywood star. Hollywood has a huge Jewish influence. So...

If his career ends up being severely damaged, serve him right.

The Passion of the Christ was perceived by many to be anti-semitic. Gibson denied it, of course. However, now, well, there's a saying: 'In vino veritas'.
