Hmmm. I think you hit it when you said there was more and more info about celebrities available - the distinction between what is public and what is private becomes blurred. Often, it must be said, with at least semi-consent of the celebs involved. There is a feeling that anything's fair game. And in the case of many BoyBands the 'characters' that the publicists make up are pretty much fictional creations. That said, RPS fails for me at a more basic level. The actors just seem so...ordinary. I'm not really interested in stories involving them. On that basis I'd probably go for RPS based on Bryon/Shelley or Keats/Byron (angst and antogonism) or doesn't it count when they're dead?
