Am back from Z-con and Chicago, but somewhere along the line I picked up some horrible bug that I have had for a week (a week!) now and that just Will Not Go Away. I have completely lost my voice and whilst some may say that is a good thing *eyes certain 'friends' suspiciously* with work looming on Monday this is not good. Ditto the coughing fits, lack of energy and general yuckiness.

So, yes, I am feeling pretty damn miserable. I'll try and post a (short) con report, 'cos honestly I don't think I can better those I've read, plus my impressions of Chicago, which to sum up are very positive, despite not being up to as much sightseeing as I'd've wished - thank God that Tem was in relaxed mode re seeing the sights. In short, Chicago is now on my list of favourite US cities.

Best thing about the con - seeing so many friends again and hopefully making new ones. That was so much fun, despite me retiring to bed early at every opportunity.

I did a bit (um, a bit by my usual standards) of shopping in Chicago and bought a fair amount (typical British understatement) of DVDs. As a result I'm planning to get rid of several videos in PAL format, as follows:

All of season 1 of Highlander (now have both seasons 1 and 2 on DVD - whoo hoo!).
Sorority Boys
The Sixth Sense

Sooo, does anyone want them? Going free to a good home. If you're in London we should be able to arrange to meet up and I'll hand them over, otherwise please can you reimburse me for postage.

I'm also planning to buy the entire Professionals ouvre on DVD and so will have an entire set of Pros vids to give away in due course, so LMK if anyone would like those, as well.

Welcome Home!

Oh. THAT bug. :::winces in sympathy::: Folks have been dropping like flies around me with that nasty stuff lately and I've been popping all sorts of extra vitamins like crazy and have gone on a hand washing fetish in an effort not to catch it. My sympathies. It's particularly miserable catching something like that when on vacation and then for the flight home.

I have completely lost my voice

So not gonna say anything here. ;)

Dare I mention that S3 is coming out on DVD in November?

Sapphire has caved. As soon as it's afoordable and I figure out the multi-region DVD player thingy, my first R2 dvd purchase will be that lovely package of all of The Pros (and we'll blame a certain person in Texas for bringing The Pros music vids to San Antonio -- even though I've been leaning toward The Pros for years -- the vids and her enthusiasm finally sent me over the edge).

Glad you made it home safely and that it sounds like you had a lovely time despite catching The Crud.

Very wise. *g*

Oh, I know. I know... *rubs hands in glee*

So, you caved, huh? Very wise decision. The lads are luverly. Also a lot of fun to play with.

And thanks for the welcome home and sympathy re The Crud. Looks like it's also going round in London, as well. So I had no chance of not catching it. But yes, I thoroughly enjoyed myself most of the time, which is all to the good.

Do take care (I have the horrible bug too!), a con report would be lovely (I heard a Lovett illo went for 3000!)

Thanks for the welcome back. As you say, maybe next time for ZCon. I think it was well worth the trip, definitely. Although part of the attraction was also visiting Chicago.

For con reports in the meantime before I get my act together check out my friends list (although you'll need to scroll back quite a few days to read them). uschickens, justacat, darthrami to name just a few did some con reports that are worth a read.

I also heard that the Lovett illo went for $3,000, but wasn't actually present when it happened, as I'd gone to bed by that stage. However friends of mine who were there confirmed that someone was willing to pay that amount of money. I was gobsmacked myself. I can't imagine ever paying that much for a fannish painting, although I would fork out that kind of money for a piece by a professional artist. But that could be that I don't have anything (except for my fridge magnets) of a fannish nature on display in my house, as my artistic tastes run more towards the abstract than human figures in the main.
