Of bondage and boy bands

I'm watching Top of the Pops for the first time in...I don't how long, years, probably. Actually, it's more accurate to say that I can't be bothered to turn over the channel and ToTP is just on.

And I caught one of the latest British boy bands, called Phixx (who have come about as a result of a TV programme called 'Popstars: the Rivals'). So, totally manufactured, like all boybands come to that. But gosh, they're pretty.

The look is post-apocalyptic distressed, all (artfully) spiky hair, artistic tattoos and strategically ripped clothing. Song was called something like 'Hold Onto Me' and featured five (one for each band member, of course) gorgeous female doms adorned with PVC miniskirts, chains and whips.

So, I was quite enjoying the scenery (song was crap, but, really, who cares) when, whoa! Three of the doms ripped off their boys' t-shirts exposing really rather lovely and well-muscled chests. All of the boys were then wrapped in chains, and dragged backwards and chained to the doms' chairs.

All I can say is that the audience appeared to be enjoying it. I was too. Why weren't boybands like that in my day?

Oh yeah, Shane Ritchie (WTF!) has just come on and sung a 'Wham' song. Guess most of the audience are too young to remember the Wham boys singing the original with shuttlecocks stuffed down their shorts... Ah, happy memories.

One of Phixx, I forget which is actually gay (like, not RPS fantasy wise, but out-of-the-closet, 'my fellow band members are completely comfortable with me' gay), so the whole corresponding female thing is a bit silly lol But um yes. Boybands=pretty. How are you not getting this yet? lol

*g* Oh I get the boybands=pretty. It's just that I like a bit of depth of character and experience together with the pretty. Boyband members are usually lacking in this for me, precisely because they're boys.

OTOH, when I read HP stuff I like Harry/Draco, and they're not exactly at the plucking out the grey hairs stage just yet.

I don't think of the corresponding female thing as being silly, in that it was obviously a bit of fun and just 'cos he's gay doesn't mean that he should be excluded from the whole dom/sub thing. *g*

Alas, I wish it had only been a cold. I think the antibiotics have helped, but the voice still cracks up if I speak for any length of time. And I'm permanently knackered. However, I am getting better. I am. I really am (positive thinking here). Gimme another few weeks and I'm sure I'll be fighting fit. And thank God you didn't get it, I was worried about that.

*g* Yeah, me too. It was pure laziness that stopped me from switching over this time and tragically missing the pretty-boys bondage scene.

I think there is a general movement - thanks to a raising awareness of the pink audience - towards males as spectacle ~falls on knees and thanks deity of choice~

Now, if only they got back those 70s very tight trousers...

Oooh, me too. Of course, pretty boys have always been packaged but normally in the past it was in a very innocuous clean-cut way. Not so much naked flesh on display as now. *cheers loudly*

It was also the first time in a long while that I'd watched it, as I was round at The MadHouse and inquisitorbob likes all this new crappy pop stuff. I had heard it before though, as another friend told me it was like Duran Duran or A-Ha. No. More like some of the other 80s stuff, but not quiet or... mellow... enough for those.

The performance was good though! The conversation topic for the next few hours anyway...!!

*Blink* Er, no, neither Wham or A-Ha sprang to my mind either. The song was...sort of forgettable, really. Or maybe I was too distracted by The Pretty.
