Ouch

Am wondering whether I've actually developed an intolerance to alcohol somewhere along the way.

I was out last night for a friend's leaving do and I don't recall having had much to drink, not least because I was interspersing the alcohol with mineral water, but I have a killer headache today. Am out drinking again tonight with the university crowd, but thankfully with dinner. Tomorrow am meeting some fannish friends starting off with cocktails.

I'm feeling ill already.

I shouldn't be alcohol intolerant, coming as I do from a long line of alcohol guzzling ancestors, but ow!

That's odd... Not least that it's unlikely you were mixing drinks...

*hard stare* Are you calling me a liar, are you, are you huh, huh!?

*g*

no, actually I was mixing drinks, honest, guv. I don't like to drink much when I've got to work the next day so I was taking it easy. Wait until you're over thirty and you'll know exactly how I feel... But the fact that I really didn't drink much makes the headache even more depressing.

Only another ten years... That makes it sound like a long time, I'll shut up now :P

Yeah, yeah, rub it in why don't you?! :)

Before I hit thirty I never ever had a hangover. I could get completely rat-arsed at a Hall Party, or the Nottingham Beer Festival, or later at Chester College of Law and then London and I was absolutely fine the next day.

My first hangover, which was after a friend's birthday party, was a really unpleasant surprise. Just thought I'd mention this, so that you know that you've got something to look forward to...

You just need to practise more!

I get a bit headachey after those rare occasions when I have a day or two alcohol-free. Mostly though I scare myself how much I can take (if I stick to wine) and not feel a thing.

I hear the postman below -- back to work !

Sigh. Yeah, but I can't help thinking of alcohol = empty calories and keeping the weigh off becomes increasingly difficult. Yes, I know you don't have that problem. *rueful smile*

BTW, did you know Speranza's just published a new dS story? My anguish at not having the time to read it *now* knows no bounds.

My anguish is keeping your anguish company.

And I keep having to look for ever more cunning ways to hide that inch or so of unmoveable flab that has been lurking round my midriff for the past couple of years. (Don't mention excercise -- I *know * that's the only real answer!)

Practice, practice, practice! One must stay in shape in these endeavors as one ages.

*g* Yeah, that's what prudentia said as well. But you know on the basis that I want to try and keep the weight down (and I'm already depressed at how many of my favourite suits I can't get into any more) I have to choose between alcohol and chocolate.

Guess which one is winning?!
