I'm feeling rather pleased that the man once described as "Britain's pornographer in chief" by the Daily Mail has been appointed to the job.

During his time at Channel 4 he was subject of many controversies and stood up well to the pressure, which bodes well. For once it looks like the Government may have actually got it right.

Eek. I hadn't thought of that. But Grade did say that he was going to stay out of programming and concentrate on policy and leadership issues, which is, after all, what he's employed to do.

Plus, the Beeb have announced new series and new Doctor, which suggests that contracts have already been signed and commitments made, so hopefully it will all still go ahead.
