That's Perth, Western Australia, not Perth in Scotland, BTW.

Turns out there's been a bit of a faux pas, in that some 'outside contractor' sent round an email warning that it's dangerous to travel to Perth. That's *Perth*, WA. You know, friendly place (so I'm told my Aussie mates of mine - I haven't yet made it to Perth WA myself), bit remote, maybe, but generally nicely laid back and easy going. That's what my friends from Perth say, anyway.

Anyway, the Western Australia tourist board is absolutely hopping mad, referring to Perth (I suspect rightly) as being one of the safest cities in the world.

But the bit that really made me giggle was the report (on the BBC site here) that the City of Perth Council was 'less concerned', stating that, "The weather is a bit dodgy." Oh, that's just lovely. Rock on Perth.

Perth makes Nottingham look like hell-on-earth, right?

Maybe we should ask those 'outside contractors' to go there? Up the M1, to make matters... normal.

Good idea. Then they'd know what 'dangerous' is. Mind you, it is deeply sad how much Nottingham has deteriorated since I was a student there. Sigh. Although there were dodgy areas frequented only by prostitutes, drug dealers and students in my day, as well.

Makes sense those three groups all club together ;P

I think the areas that are bad have changed too. Not all of them, but a few new ones and a few old ones are better now.

*g* Absolutely. In my day Yates Wine Lodge consisted of only three classes of punter. Prostitutes. Criminals. Students. A select group, I'm sure you'll agree. ;)

You'll be glad to hear it's still the same in Burnley, if not Nottm. I think they migrated to Lloyds on the Square in Nottm cos the drinks are cheaper (in Yates' they go up after 8:00pm).
