Muswell Hill, I immediately yelled out Ally Pally! I know it well. *g* See it every day, as it's less than a mile away. Am watching Doctor Who Confidential now, and, yep, I thought that they didn't actually film some of it in Alexandra Palace. It just looked rather un-Ally Pally-like. They did film part of it there, though. Such fun. Ally Pally was where the Beeb first broadcasted from, BTW, and the mast remains flying high over North London.
But, and there's no way the surrounding area where they filmed was actually Muswell Hill. Muswell Hill just doesn't look like that. The streets are wider, most are 1930s buildings, not Victorian terraces. It wasn't hilly enough.
I thought it was a nice touch, though, that Maureen Lipmann, who played 'The Wire' actually lives in Muswell Hill.
