I'm watching the post-match commentary for the Germany/Italy World Cup semi-final and it's just a bit weird to see the crowd (the German part, anyway) singing along to Walk On (can't remember the real title, but it's the Liverpool song about not walking alone) in English.

And kudos to the German fans, for being incredibly classy in defeat.

So, Italy, huh. Well, I'm happy. After England got knocked out by Portugal (and, oh, the frustration of watching England flub it yet again -- they could, and should, have won) there was much discussion at the barbecue I was attending on Saturday about who to support out of the remaining France, Germany, Portugal and Italy teams. And, yep, the consensus was Italy. There's no real baggage, you see. And those Italians are very stylish.

Mandragora = shallow.

I sympathise. And they did rather better than England, that's for sure.

Yeah, but all footballers jump on each other and kiss each other and hug lots.

I thought that was the attraction.

*blinks innocently*

Well, yeah. I mean it's more of an academic exercise now. But the Germany/Italy match was a great game, so...

Yeah, I'm OK about Italy - was disappointed England didn't win though. I thought they deserved it. They played well.

Not well enough, unfortunately. Bleeding typical if you ask me. Sigh.
